Lady Bulldogs blast Lyon, eye TSC home game
BATESVILLE, Ark. — Cumberland's 13th-ranked women breezed by Lyon 84-39 Thursday night.
The Lady Bulldogs led 40-25 at halftime as they improved to 22-6 for the season and 12-5 in the TranSouth Conference with the regular-season finale set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Blue Mountain.
With a win Saturday, Cumberland should finish as the No. 4 seed for the TSC tournament and host No. 17 Freed-Hardeman next Wednesday at the Dallas Floyd Center. But should the Lady Bulldogs lose, they may have to go to Henderson to face Freed that night.
Regardless, the Lady Bulldogs appear to be a lock for their third straight NAIA National Tournament next month in Jackson.
C'Kala Humes supplied 17 points and 12 rebounds for Cumberland while Ashley Cross scored 12 and Renae Williams 11. Kiana Robinson added eight points, Juliana Fernandes seven, Tomika Hall and Keisha Forrest six each, Ewa Bukowska five, Isabelli Cunico and Mariel Ruis four apiece and Hilary Bauer and Kari Maddox two apiece.
No one scored in double figures for Lyon.
