Golden Bears win Cornerstone tourney

Mt. Juliet Middle School's Golden Bears won the Cornerstone Tournament this weekend with a victory over the host team 63-57.
The Bears held a six point lead at the half with a score of 40-34 and would hold onto the lead to seal the victory and the championship.
Corderius Burns led the way way 27 points for Mt. Juliet. Aaron Simms netted 21 points, Vaughn Cornelia added six, Matt Hayes four, Brandon Shepard three and Dylan Hopper and Austin Odom one each in the victory.

Southside came out on top of Gordonsville 49-30 to win the Best of the West Championship at DeKalb West school and move to 3-0.
The Saints held a slim two-point lead at the end of the first quarter before widening the gap to 25-19 at the half. Gordonsville was held to three points in the third quarter.
For the Saints, Nathan Corn had 13 points, followed by Aaron Simonis and Devin Fish with 12 apiece, Clint Martin with four, Case Sloan and Dylan Snodgrass with three each and Nate Gilley and Zach Hill each added one.
Gordonsville was led by Cody Woodmore with 10 points.
Corn, Simonis, Fish, Martin and Sloan were selected to the All-Tournament team.
