LGSA signups open through Feb. 5

Lebanon Girls Softball Association fastpitch registration is now open for ages 4-14. Online registration is available through Feb. 5 at www.lebanongirlssoftball.com. In-person signups will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 30 at the LGSA clubhouse in Baird Park as a makeup for the Jan. 23 signups which were cancelled due to snow. Registration is $80 per player. Lebanon Youth Baseball signups under way online

Online signups for the 2016 Lebanon Youth Baseball season are under way through Feb. 20 on the league’s website, lebanonyouthbaseball.net. All players, new and returning, must register. Tryouts, which are coaches’ evaluations, will be held Feb. 20-21. The league draft will be Feb. 27 and the first week of practice will be Feb. 29-March 4. Opening day will be April 2 with league playoffs and championships June 6-11.

Watertown baseball, softball signups

Watertown Youth Baseball and Softball signups are available at city hall from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays, from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday Jan. 30 and every Saturday from Jan. 30 through February from 8 a.m.-noon.

MJ baseball launches stadium legacy program

Mt. Juliet High baseball is installing 117 reserved seatback chairs in the bleachers behind home plate available to season ticketholders as part of the stadium legacy program launched by the MJHS Baseball Booster Club. Fans, including businesses, who purchase one or more of the seatback chairs will have his/her/company name permanently engraved into the metal seat number plate. Booster club member Derek Hunley said 20 seats were sold within the first 48 hours of rolling out the program. Tyler McChurch Memorial Golf Tournament May 16

The second annual Tyler McChurch Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for May 16 at Five Oaks Golf & Country Club. A 36-team field will be divided into three flights. A complimentary lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., followed by the shotgun start at 1. The tournament will be a four-person scramble format. Entry fee is $500 per team. Sponsorships are also available. Some of the proceeds will go to Cumberland University for the recognition of superior scholar athletes within the Wilson County School System in memory of Tyler McChurch, who played football for Wilson Central High and CU. American Legion baseball comes to Lebanon

American Legion Post 15 has announced the formation of an American Legion team in Lebanon for the summer 2016 season. The mission of American Legion Post 15 baseball shall be to offer to individuals, ages 14 -19, the opportunity to play organized baseball in a competitive atmosphere, and to further enhance the baseball community in Wilson, Trousdale and Smith counties and the surrounding area. Since 1925, The American Legion has sponsored a nationwide youth baseball program. During the past 90 years, millions of young players have enjoyed playing. The American Legion and its 2.8 million members raise millions of dollars each year for players to learn the importance of teamwork, discipline, leadership and good sportsmanship. The American Legion sponsors American Legion Baseball to give players an opportunity to develop their skills, personal fitness, and leadership qualities. More than 5,000 teams participate each year nationwide. Post 15 will, depending on participation, have a junior division team consisting on players 14 -17 and a senior division team of players ages 17-19. The Post is also looking for individuals and companies willing to be supporters and sponsors to assist with the cost so that as many players as want will be able to play.
