Carmichael named Cracker Barrel chief people officer

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. announced the appointment of Beverly K. Carmichael as chief people officer of the Lebanon-headquartered restaurant company with 72,000 employees in 42 states.

Carmichael has a 20-year track record of success in multiple industries as a leader in human resources and labor and employee relations. She was senior vice president of labor and employee relations and vice president of people at Southwest Airlines. Additionally, she served as the chief people officer at Ticketmaster.

“With her years of HR leadership experience, Beverly has a deep understanding of the importance of the employee experience and maintaining a strong brand and company culture,” said Sandra B. Cochran, Cracker Barrel president and CEO. “She will have responsibility for the overall strategic leadership and management of HR including attracting, hiring, training, developing and retaining outstanding employees.”

Carmichael served as adjunct professor and advisor in the MBA program at the Price College of Business for the University of Oklahoma.  She also serves on the advisory board in the communication studies program at Southern Methodist University.

Carmichael earned doctorate and bachelor degrees from the University of Oklahoma.
