Ex-CU LB signs to play for indoor football team

Former Cumberland linebacker Kenneth Nevels has signed to play for the Odessa [Texas] Roughnecks of the indoor Intense Football League.
The 6-1, 248-pound Nevels, 26, was a two-time All-State linebacker at Pearl-Cohn, where he played on two state championships in 1996 and '97.
After spending a year at Arkansas, he transferred to Cumberland where he earned All-Mid-South Conference and honorable mention NAIA All-America honors.
Since leaving Cumberland, Nevels has played professionally for the Calgary Stampede of the Canadian Football League, the Tennessee Valley Vipers of Arena Football2, the Nashville Mustangs and the Tennessee Rattlers.
The Roughnecks will begin their season April 9.
