Date set for India Clark fund-raiser
August 16, 2005
A Sept. 10 date has been selected for a fund-raiser on behalf of a one-time Lebanon High School cheerleader seriously wounded in an apparent random shooting.
The event on behalf of India Clark, 15, will be 6 p.m. at Pickett-Rucker United Methodist Church, event organizers said.
Clark has been forced to give up cheerleading and curtail other activities as a result of the May shooting, which remains unsolved.
The teen was visiting her mother inside a public housing development when she was shot in the chest area, leaving her in critical condition in a Nashville hospital.
Clark returned to school along with her classmates just a few weeks ago and seems to be rapidly recovering from the ordeal.
Rufus McAdoo, one of the organizers of the fund-raiser, said volunteers behind the effort are already at work on a lineup of diverse entertainment.
The slate of activities includes adult and children's choirs, several other special musical performances and interpretive dance presentations.
McAdoo said several other events, including possible poetry readings, may be added to the day's activities.
"We're really trying to have something that will appeal to just about everyone," he said.
