CU baseball No. 2 in preseason poll

Cumberland will begin the 2007 baseball season where it finished 2006 – in second place.
The Bulldogs were voted No. 2 in the NAIA preseason pool released last week.
Lewis-Clark State, which won last year's national championship with an extra-inning victory over the Bulldogs, will begin 2007 as the top-ranked team with 17 first-place votes and 472 points.
Cumberland collected 444 points and a first-place vote. No. 3 Embry-Riddle received the final No. 1 vote and 419 points.
The Bulldogs received all but one of the first-place votes to win the TranSouth Conference preseason poll voted on by the league's coaches. Cumberland collected 99 points to finish ahead of No. 2 Trevecca's 91, including the other first-place vote.
Cumberland won the TranSouth regular season, tournament, NAIA Region XI tournament and super regional before finishing second in the World Series. The Bulldogs have been to three straight World Series, winning it all in 2004 and finishing fourth in '05.
