Commanders rip Portland
Friendship Christian raced to an early lead and kept visiting Portland beyond arm's length 64-39 Monday at the Sportsplex.
The Commanders led 21-11 following the first quarter and 38-13 at halftime as they improved to 14-4 for the season.
"Did a good job first half executing defensively," Commander coach Matt Bradshaw said. "I think we confused them on defense.
"Did a much better job executing the zone offense...moving the ball with a purpose."
Garrett McKnight threw in three 3-pointers as he and center Michael Teeter each fired in 14 points for Friendship while guard John Doak dropped in 10. John Hatcher scored seven, Cameron Spaulding and Lee Maasen four each, Adam Stephens three and Matt Goodner, Hardie Sorrels, Eddie Doss Eatherly and Isaac Wilson two apiece.
Friendship will host District 8-A rival Gordonsville for homecoming Friday night.
