Commanders pull off road win over G'ville
GORDONSVILLE — Friendship Christian gradually pulled away from Gordonsville 71-56 Thursday in District 8-A action.
The Commanders carried a 20-19 edge into the second quarter before widening the difference to 37-25 by halftime and 56-42 through three periods as they improved to 8-3 for the season and 3-0 in the district.
"Big win for us having to go up there to play them," said Friendship coach Matt Bradshaw, whose Commanders will travel to Eagleville on Saturday night. "We played pretty well, shot the ball pretty well.
"Our guys did a good job staying focused, keeping the lead where it was."
Michael Teeter tossed in 20 points from the post for Friendship while guard John Doak threw in three 3-pointers en route to 16. Garrett McKnight added 11 while Adam Stephens scored 10, John Hatcher nine, Taylor Ferraro four and Eddie Doss Eatherly a free throw.

Underwood's 35 leads Mt. Juliet Christian on the road
HUNTINGDON — With a rare size advantage, Mt. Juliet Christian pounded the ball inside Thursday night in a 56-34 win over Carroll Academy.
Victor Underwood, a 6-4 post who routinely steps out to sink three-pointers, mostly stayed inside and fired in 35 points for the Saints, who improved to 7-5.
The teams were tied 14-14 following the first quarter before Mt. Juliet Christian opened a 30-16 halftime lead and 46-22 through three periods.
"We went to a zone instead of a man-to-man," Mt. Juliet Christian coach Paul Christensen said of the second quarter. "They had trouble handling the pressure. They didn't have a lot of depth and we used 13 players."
Seven, including Underwood, scored. Bryce Middleton supplied six while Austin Wortman, Zach Womble and Blake Marsh each finished with four and Jonathan Roberts and Devin Bradshaw two apiece.
Jerry Finch tossed in 12 points for Carroll.
Mt. Juliet Christian will travel to Bedford County on Saturday night to face Webb School.
