Central's girls, MJ's boys in state semifinals

SMYRNA — Wilson Central's girls and Mt. Juliet's boys bowled their way into the TSSAA state semifinals Friday at Smyrna Bowling Lanes.
The undefeated Lady Wildcats rolled to their 18th win of the season with a 16-11 decision over Bartlett. They will face Soddy-Daisy, which moved to 18-4 with a 20-7 defeat of Dobyns Bennett, in the semifinals at 9 a.m. this morning with the winner moving into the 11:30 a.m. finals.
In the other bracket, Hixson moved to 28-1 with a 17-10 decision over Hendersonville while Hardin County is 24-1 following a 24-3 thumping of Gatlinburg-Pittman.
Mt. Juliet's boys moved to 19-1 with a 19-8 win over William Blount. The Golden Bears will face Hixson, which improved to 29-2 with a 16-11 win over White Station.
In the other bracket, Hardin County climbed to 20-4 with a 25.5-1.5 pummeling of Pigeon Forge while unbeaten Columbia claimed its 18th conquest with a 23-4 hammering of Hendersonville.
The boy's schedule is the same as the girl's, 9:30 a.m. semifinals and 11:30 a.m. finals today.
In the individual finals, Central senior Jere McDaniel finished sixth with a 2642 total tournament. Germantown sophomore Gary Faulkner won with 2939.
