Central shuts out Bears, now 5-0
Wilson Central's best-ever start has now resulted in a school-record five-game winning streak.
The Wildcats went to Mt. Juliet on Thursday night and beat the Golden Bears 1-0 at Elzie Patton Stadium. They were coming off a 2-1 win at Glencliff on Monday.
Emilio Carrano scored the only goal at Mt. Juliet on a direct kick which sailed over the human wall and the goalie's head, hooking into the top right corner of the goal.
Goalie Jonathan Hansen posted another shutout as the Wildcats climbed to 5-0 for the season and 2-0 in District 9-AAA.
At Glencliff, the Wildcats came from a 1-0 deficit on two Musa Karrara goals off assists from Carrano and Jared Prall. Hansen kept the Colts out of goal the rest of the way.
Central will travel to Hendersonville on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. district match.
Wills hat trick lifts MJCA to shutout win
ANTIOCH — Corey Wills scored a hat trick Friday as Mt. Juliet Christian shut out host Lighthouse Christian 8-0.
Wills scored both of the Saints' first-half goals off assists from Dylan Gammon and Noa Stroop.
Senior Deano Richards racked up the first two goals of the second half on assists from Ethan Luffman and John Adcock. Swords assisted on Wills' final score and Richards passed to Cameron Michael for another score.
Gammon and Steven Wills [Corey's brother] rounded out the scoring as Mt. Juliet Christian climbed to 4-4-1 for the season.
Mt. Juliet Christian had 21 shots to Lighthouse's five with Justin Branim posting four saves for the Saints.
MJCA will travel to Metro Christian on Monday for a 4:30 p.m. match.
