Election Day was Tuesday. Early signing day is today, at least for several area high school athletes who plan to sign with NCAA schools during the early period which will run for the next week.
Five Mt. Juliet High athletes and two from Wilson Central will sign college athletic letters of intent during ceremonies at their schools today.

Two members of the Lady Bears' state runner-up softball team will also sign today. Pitcher Kenzie Roark will cast her lot with NCAA Virginia Tech while catcher Karli Rush will go with NAIA Trevecca.
Golfer Parker Dane will sign with Lee University of the NAIA.
At Wilson Central, basketball teammates Tierney Jenkins and Sara Williams will secure their futures beyond high school at 6 p.m. tonight following practice. Jenkins, named State Tournament Most Valuable Player as the Lady Wildcats won the TSSAA championship last spring, will sign with Alabama.
Williams, a fellow post in basketball and a softball catcher, will sign a softball scholarship with Western Kentucky.
Former Friendship Christian catcher Michael Wheeler, now a sophomore at Walters State Community College, has committed to play baseball for Kentucky and is expected to sign during this period.
