Bulldogs beat St. Louis Christian

Five Bulldogs scored in double figures Thursday night as Cumberland stopped visiting St. Louis Christian 86-73 at the Dallas Floyd Center.
DeCorey Young knocked down 19 points for the Bulldogs while teammate Thomas Douglas matched his two three-pointers on his way to 16. Desmond Rhodes and Torrez Hampton threw in 13 each while Maurice Johnson tossed in 10, Joseph Northington four, Steven Jamison three and Brandon Oldham, Channing Tucker, Chase Burnett and Aurimas Silys two apiece as Cumberland climbed to 7-2.
Doug Junkins sank six three-pointers on his way to a game-high 26 points for St. Louis Christian. Nathan Divelay tossed in 12 and Mike Williams 10 as the visitors slipped to 8-2.
Cumberland led 38-36 at halftime before opening a more comfortable margin in the second half. The Bulldogs outscored the visitors 27-17 off turnovers, 48-30 in the paint and 16-12 on second chances.
Douglas finished with five steals and Rhodes four while Silys swiped four steals.
Divelay delivered 11 rebounds for St. Louis Christian.
Cumberland is off until the Dec. 15-16 Bulldog Classic at the Floyd Center. The men will face Tennessee Temple at 8 p.m. Dec. 15 and McKendree at 6 p.m. the following evening.
The Lady Bulldogs, who slipped a spot to 14th in the first in-season NAIA poll released earlier this week, will face Hannibal laGrange at 6 p.m. Dec. 15 and Wilberforce at 4 p.m. the following day.
