The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association has announced comprehensive, cross-platform coverage of the 2013 Road to the Blue Cross Bowl beginning this weekend and culminating with the BlueCross Bowl Football Championships at Tennessee Tech Dec. 5-7.
Coverage will include a bracket release show, playoff preview show, live coverage of games online and on television, as well as a new bracket pick’em game for fans.
“We are thrilled to offer our fans a variety of viewing options this year through our partnerships with the NFHS Network and Mann Communications,” said Bernard Childress, executive director for TSSAA. “From watching the brackets revealed to learning more about playoff teams to following your favorite schools throughout November, fans will have access to more Tennessee football championship content this year than ever before.”
The Road to the Blue Cross Bowl coverage kicks off at 10 a.m. with a bracket release program airing live on the NFHS Network at www.NFHSnetwork.com/TSSAA. The show, hosted by Mt. Juliet native Chad Withrow and Chris Eakes of Nashville’s 104.5 The Zone’s sports radio, will bring fans their first look at the brackets for the eight divisions of the TSSAA football championships live as they are announced. The show will also feature coach interviews and analysis of the playoff match ups. The show will be available for viewers for free.
In addition to the bracket release show, Mann Communications will produce a Playoff Preview Show that will air on a statewide affiliate network of stations on Monday, including Nashville’s WUXP and WNAB. Check local listings for times.
New this year, the TSSAA and NFHS Network will also feature the new Tennessee Football Pick’em bracket game. Fans can test their Tennessee high school football knowledge by picking their favorite teams each and every week throughout the playoffs at brackets.nfhsnetwork.com. Pick a favorite division or games in all eight brackets across the divisions competing in the 2013 Road to the Blue Cross Bowl. Fans can join the game at any time throughout the playoffs and come back weekly to pick the next round of games.
Game coverage of the playoffs will be available on the NFHS Network starting Nov. 8. The NFHS Network, of which the TSSAA is a contributor, is an all-digital network featuring boys and girls high school sports, performing arts and activities from across the country. Road to the BlueCross Bowl playoff games will be available online with a subscription at www.NFHSnetwork.com/TSSAA throughout November. Subscribers can also watch playoff match-ups on their mobile devices at m.nfhsnetwork.com as well as through the NFHS Network app available at iTunes.
“We have had a longstanding relationship with the TSSAA to cover a variety of high school sporting championships, including the BlueCross Bowl,” said Robert Rothberg, president of the NFHS Network. “This year, we are excited to augment that coverage with a live bracket reveal show and bracket pick-em game that further celebrates the excitement of high school football playoffs in Tennessee.”
The BlueCross Bowl Championship Games will be televised live from Tennessee Tech University the weekend of Dec. 5, including in Nashville on WUXP and WNAB, in addition to streaming live on the NFHS Network.
DVD sales of the 2013 BlueCross Bowl championship will also be available through the NFHS Network.
