Lebanon, LaVergne play to 3-3 tie

One night before the football teams hook up on Clifton Tribble Fields, LaVergne and Lebanon hooked up in District 9-AAA soccer on the pitch located behind the Danny Watkins Stadium visitors’ stands and played to a 3-3 tie Thursday night.

Ashley Grimes scored twice, including once off a Danielle Redmond corner kick, in the last 4:30 of the first half for a 2-0 Lady Devil lead.

Ayline Mateos scored twice within a 10-minute span to pull LaVergne even before Annette Mateos put the Lady Wolverines ahead with 15 minutes to play.

Redmond converted a Molly Wilkerson assist with 4:41 to play for the tie.

Earlier, Lebanon won the junior-varsity match 4-1.

Isabella Simmons scored with 10 minutes left and Jaleste Bryson connected with seven seconds remaining in the first half for a 2-0 Lebanon lead. Karen Calderon and Taylor Williams scored in the second half to double the lead with 13:48 remaining.
