Bettye June Lehew

Funeral services for Mrs. Lehew will be Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Tramel officiating. Pallbearers will be Chad and Dustin Hibdon, Vincent and Brandon Johnson, Ricky Lehew and Chad Murray. Visitation will be Saturday from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday prior to services. Interment will follow services in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Lebanon.

Mrs. Lehew, age 83, formerly of Lebanon, died Saturday morning at Northside Health Care in Murfreesboro.

Born Sept. 15, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Monroe and Lorene Putty Patterson and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. "Bob" Lehew, in 2006; a sister, Peggy Beavers; brother, Haley Patterson; and niece, Vensia Lynn Reynolds.

Bettye was an antique and doll collector. She was a kind and loving person who enjoyed caring for others. She and her husband operated Lehew's Garage in Lebanon for many years. Bettye was a graduate of Watertown High School and a star basketball player, who set many longstanding records.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Martin, of Murfreesboro; sister-in-law, Darlene Murray, of Lebanon; brother-in-law, Bill Beavers, of Lebanon; nieces and nephews, Dustin (Cheah) Hibdon, Chad (Lea) Hibdon, Vincent (Michelle) Johnson, Chad Murray, Kristi Spencer, Ricky Lehew, Curtis (Patty) Lehew, Scott Lehew, Norman (Debbie) Hayes, Mike Hayes, Teresa (Mike) Griffin; great-nieces and great-nephews, Eli and Lydia Hibdon, Brandon (Kierstin) Johnson, Kyle (Judy) Reynolds, Jenna Martin, Cheyenne Spencer; and many other loving relatives and friends.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Northside Health Care and the hospice nurses who cared for Bettye.
