Howell Layne Ricketts

Funeral services for Mr. Ricketts will be Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home with Brother Jimmy Atnip and Pastor Jim Patton officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service time. Pallbearers will be Jeff, Logan and Jacob Hallman, Kenny and Scott Ricketts and Aaron Ricketts. Interment will follow in Jones Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Ricketts, age 92, of Watertown, died Saturday afternoon, Sept. 9, 2017 at Quality Care Health Center in Lebanon.

Born Sept. 8, 1925, he was the son of the late Alfred and Della Ricketts and was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Ricketts; brother, Raymond Ricketts and sister-in-law, Rosie Lee Ricketts.

Howell was a 1943 graduate of Watertown High School and a retired school bus driver for Wilson County Schools. He was a member of Round Lick Baptist Church and a 68-year member of Comer Lodge 417.

Howell is survived by his wife, Mattie Ann Stephens Ricketts; children, Kendra Ricketts, of Statesville, William Ricketts, of Watertown, Eddie (Lisa) Ricketts, of Watertown, Tony (Jan) Ricketts, of Lebanon, Rhonda (Todd) Shelton, of Watertown; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Kathy Dedman, and her husband, John; niece, Carol Ricketts; and nephew, David Ricketts, and his wife, Sherron.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Round Lick Baptist Church building fund.
