Staff Reports • Dec 17, 2015 at 6:37 PM

The Wilson County Alumni Chapter Tennessee State University National Alumni Association will play host to its second “Real Fathers – Real Men” fundraising event June 13 at 6 p.m. at Lebanon Golf and Country Club.

In its second year, the chapter boasts of a record number of TSU graduates – more than 700 – from Wilson County, along with at least 300 who graduated from the Wilson County High School from 1916-69.

The chapter provided assistance through the TSU Food Pantry on Campus and has now set out to award its first $1,000 student scholarship for the 2014-15 school year.

The chapter’s officers and executive committee include president Robert W. Moxley, vice president Ann Tapley-Irvin, Evelyn McGregor, Linda Tapley-Barber, Emma Tapley-Stafford, Russell Irvin and J.W. McGuire.

This year’s Real Fathers – Real Men fundraising event keynote speaker is Brenda McCoy Hunter, noted author, speaker and certified career transition coach, who has worked with adults across their lifespan during the past three decades.  Her timely topic, “leading the next generation,” is a compelling conversation addressing the leadership needs and challenges of four and five generations who seek to live, work and flourish in a changing society.

Hunter is the former director of the National Extension Leadership Development program at Tennessee State University. In this role she developed and administered the curriculum for two cohorts of college and university administrators. Her experiences led the 25 member groups to sites across the U.S., as well as globally to Hong Kong, China, New Zealand and American Samoa. She also presented to professional educators in Okinawa, Japan and Tokyo, Japan.

She received her master’s degree in adult education from Tennessee State University and a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She is a 1991 graduate of Leadership Nashville, a board member of the International Coach Federation’s Tennessee Chapter, president of the Fifty-Forward Bordeaux Advisory Council, a charter member of Nashville CABLE Club and a former member of the Tennessee Board of Examiners in psychology.
