Wilson emissions test station to close for holiday

Vehicle emissions testing centers in Sumner, Rutherford, Wilson and Williamson counties in Middle Tennessee will close Saturday and Monday in observance of Memorial Day. All stations will resume testing on Tuesday, May 27 at their regular scheduled hours.

“Customer service remains a top priority for us,” said Prentiss Taylor, program manager for the Tennessee Vehicle Inspection program administrated by Envirotest Systems. “Planning ahead means less time waiting in line and more time enjoying the start of a beautiful, Tennessee summer.”

Taylor recommends visiting the testing facilities on Wednesdays and Thursdays, when testing volume is usually lighter, and to avoid testing in the final days of the month.

Envirotest, the world’s leading provider of vehicle emissions testing and inspection, has a contract with the State of Tennessee to test vehicles for the improvement of air quality in four Middle Tennessee counties, in addition to Hamilton County (Chattanooga), as required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to meet the Clean Air Act.

“Vehicle emissions testing has proven effective in helping Tennessee improve its air quality,” Taylor said.

Normal hours of operation and testing center locations for Middle Tennessee are:

• Wilson County stations in Lebanon are open Monday and Tuesday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are closed Sunday.
