Ann Haney: Coupons on non-food deals

Great savings can be experienced for the non-food shopper. Many people continue to say one of the biggest challenges is finding coupons when dietary restrictions are present.

Savings are not just for food items. Some of the greatest deal breakers are for items such as cleaning supplies, paper products and makeup.

Let’s take a look at just some of the recent dynamic deals that have presented the couponer with opportunities to stockpile to the max.

Lately, we have seen high-dollar coupons for name-brand laundry detergent in the amount of $2 off. When combined with recent mega event sales, this can mean detergent like Tide and Gain for as little as $2.99.

Another recent deal breaker is fabric softeners like Downy and Purex Crystals for as little as 99 cents to $2.49.

One of my favorite deals delivering over the top was Solo plastic cups for free with a 32-cent profit after coupons and mega deals. Wow. Now that’s what I call couponing to the max.

But, that’s not all. If you have been keeping a close eye on the make-up coupons, no doubt you have seen the $3 off coupons gracing the pages of the inserts. When teamed up with mega deals, these coupons present consumers with name-brand makeup, like Cover Girl for as little as 39 cents to $3 for $9 makeup. Now that’s a deal I say stock up on, especially if you have teenage daughters.

Great savings await the alert couponer even if food is not on the list.

So for those who doubt they can use the resource of couponing to save money because of dietary restrictions, let me assure you, there are still great savings available for you.

Remember, one of the keys to finding great coupons for items outside the food category is to purchase the last Sunday of the month’s newspaper for the Proctor and Gamble insert, where many of these coupons are found.

Pay special attention to the dates. Some have been known to last only two weeks, making it necessary to closely observe the sales.
