The theme for 2016 is “gearing education toward jobs of the future” and will feature Cumberland University president Paul Stumb as the evening’s speaker. Civic League member Marilyn Bryant said Stumb was chosen to share his viewpoint on direction in higher education and application to societal growth.
Stumb was named president of the university Aug. 25. He has served Cumberland University since 2003, when he became an adjunct professor, a capacity in which he served for two years before becoming dean of the Labry School of Business and Economics, currently known as the Labry School of Science, Technology and Business.
Also on the agenda for the evening is an appearance by local musician Curtis Reed. The evening’s emcee will be Fantastic Fred Burton.
The dinner begins at 6 p.m. in Baird Chapel on the Cumberland campus. Tickets are available for $25 through the Wilson County Civic League Facebook page or at the organization’s offices at 321 E. Market St. in Lebanon. For more information, call 615-449-0719.
