Letter to the Editor: Congrats to Sherry’s Run

To the Editor:

Congratulations and kudos to those responsible for organizing and producing the 14th annual Sherry’s Run earlier this month.

While this event raises a substantial amount of money each year to battle cancer and to aid those who are struggling with the disease, it does something else that is remarkable, as well.

It allows our local community and by that I mean all of Wilson County to come together in support of a noble and important cause.

It provides an opportunity for everyone of all walks of life to wrap our arms around a single event that has proven for more than a dozen years to be of significant value to all of us who proudly call Wilson County our home.

For the first time since the partnership between the Whip Crackin’ Rodeo and the Community Foundation of Wilson County was formed a contribution of $2,000 was made to Sherry’s Run in a joint presentation by representatives of both organizations.

As chairman of the Community Foundation of Wilson County, I want to express our appreciation for the opportunity to partner with the Whip Crackin’ Rodeo and to jointly make this contribution to Sherry’s Run.

I think this is just another good example of what can be accomplished when a community works together.

We look forward to our relationship with the Whip Crackin’ Rodeo and other community ventures that will help enable us to better serve nonprofits in Wilson County.

The Community Foundation works with people who have great hearts, whether or not they have great wealth, to craft solutions that reflect their intentions and goals. For as little as $5,000, a fund with your name that will last forever can be created through the Community Foundation to grow and serve any nonprofit or need of your choice.

For more information, including how to make contributions, establish a fund in your name, local board members and local nonprofits that benefit from the Community Foundation of Wilson County, please visit cmft.org and click on Wilson County in the column to the right that lists affiliate organizations.
