Disorderly suspect draws police attention

Staff Reports • Sep 25, 2017 at 8:12 PM

A Lebanon man was charged with disorderly conduct Sunday night after several run-ins with officers.

Sammy Davis McNeal, 46, of Lebanon, apparently drew the attention of several Lebanon police officers at different times Sunday evening. When police finally arrested McNeal on Sunday at about 11 p.m., about half a dozen officers provided backup. According to an eyewitness at the scene, officers drew their weapons on McNeal during the arrest.

According to Lebanon police Sgt. P.J. Hardy, McNeal apparently made several lewd and offensive comments to law enforcement throughout the evening at different locations in Lebanon. Hardy said McNeal got into a verbal confrontation with an off-duty officer from another agency at the Lebanon Walmart.

Later in the evening, Hardy said officers spotted McNeal driving erratically after he cussed at officers while they were on a traffic stop with another person.

Officers later stopped McNeal’s vehicle near Family Video on West Main Street. Hardy said McNeal was disorderly with the officers, which led to his arrest.

Hardy said it’s unknown why McNeal took a “taunting approach toward law enforcement.”

McNeal was charged with disorderly conduct and cited for several traffic offenses. He was taken to Wilson County Jail and held on $1,500 bond until he was released Monday just after 8 a.m.
