THSO executed its “Booze It and Lose It” campaign through public service announcements, impaired driving safety messages and increased support for local law enforcement to prevent traffic injuries and fatalities. This summer, “Booze It and Lose It” runs through Labor Day.
According to the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security’s TITAN Division, thus far in 2016, 4,159 Tennessee traffic crashes involved impaired drivers. Of this figure, 2,254 traffic crashes involved property damage, 1,813 involved injuries, and 92 were fatal.
This summer, local law enforcement agencies across the state have increased DUI enforcement efforts through planned sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols, high visibility and multi-jurisdictional initiatives. Through grant funding awarded by THSO, the agencies receive the support and resources necessary to combat impaired driving and protect Tennessee roadways.
Additionally, THSO is distributing a new commercial to promote the “Booze It and Lose It” campaign at youtube.com.
The Tennessee Highway Safety Office is Tennessee’s advocate for traffic safety.
