Sherry’s Run receives $10K grant

Middle Tennessee Electric’s SharingChange donated $10,000 of its funds to Sherry’s Run.

The donation will go to help cancer patients like Jacob Will and other families with money to buy gas, groceries, pay utility bills, housing payments, prescription assistance, health insurance premiums, medical bills and colonoscopy assistance.

“Jacob’s sweet smile and infectious spirit have truly inspired me,” said Tonyia Stockton, director of patient assistance for Sherry’s Run. “Your donations to SharingChange make it possible for us to serve precious families like this one.”

Will was diagnosed with an atypical Teratoid/Rabdoid tumor at 3 years old.

AT/RT is a rare brain cancer that attacks the central nervous system. According to Jacob’s grandfather, Mike Will, doctors found a “tennis-ball-sized” AT/RT tumor in Jacob’s brain in July 2014. Within a week, doctors were ready to operate.

Although they were able to remove the majority of the tumor, Jacob had a stroke during the operation.

After the surgery, Jacob began chemotherapy and treatment with experimental medicine. He’s currently continuing to improve and even played recreation-league baseball last summer.
