The Wilson County Development and Tourism Committee discussed advertising for 2018 during a meeting Thursday night at the Wilson County Courthouse.

Jenny Bennett, Wilson County’s tourism director, discussed plans to put a full-page advertisement for the county in Tennessee Vacation Guide magazine.

Last year, Wilson County only used a half-page advertisement, but Bennett believes there are enough attractions to warrant a full page.

“A full page ad really would just be so much more impactful,” said Bennett. “It could show all the wonderful aspects we have to brag about here in Wilson County.”

The total cost for the ad is $13,400, and $4,000 of that would be covered by the county’s advertising.

The committee approved a motion to match the $4,000 with money from the general fund, which would the total funds to $8,000 upon final approval by the Wilson County Commission.

The committee determined the rest of the money should come from local companies’ advertising budgets. The companies and organizations that help fund the ad will, in turn, be included in the county’s ad.
