Wiseman leads golfers with 75, CU places third as team

CENTERVILLE — Sophomore Josh Wiseman carded a five-over par 75, tying for fourth overall, and Cumberland men’s golf finished third as a team at the Riley Moore Collegiate Club Invitational on Thursday.

Wiseman finished one stroke behind three players who all tied for first – Freed-Hardeman’s Easton Lavelle and Hudson Huber along with Martin Methodist’s Walker Gordon. Lavelle took individual medalist honors in a playoff.

Freshman Dominic Patton collected a 78 in his first collegiate round, while sophomore Colby Bolton shot 81 on Thursday. Freshmen Bryson Smith and D.J. Upton recorded rounds of 82 and 88, respectively, tying for 16th and 27th overall.

Freed-Hardeman and Martin Methodist tied for the team title as well, with FHU winning that in a playoff. The Phoenix were 12 shots back at 316.

Cumberland will play in the Mid-South Conference Fall Invitational this Monday and Tuesday at Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown, Ky.
