Staff Reports • Mar 7, 2017 at 5:19 PM

Wilson County sheriff’s detectives seek the public’s help in a vehicle crash investigation in which one of the drivers fled the scene.

A tan-colored car hit a Wilson County Emergency Management Agency ambulance from behind Feb. 2 at about midnight at the intersection of Highway 231 and Hartmann Drive.

Following the actual impact, first responders exited the ambulance to check on the driver of the vehicle that hit the ambulance. But the driver of the car fled the scene of the crash.

During the process of leaving the scene, the driver hit one of the first responders with his door, which pulled her a short distance and caused substantial injury.

Sheriff’s detectives seek assistance to identify the vehicle and the driver. The driver was described as a clean-cut white man in his 20s, of medium build and wearing a hoodie. The vehicle is identified as a tan four-door compact car, likely with front-end damage from the incident.

The driver was last seen traveling northbound on Highway 231 from the Hartmann Drive intersection.

Anyone with information that leads to the successful identification, prosecution and conviction of the person involved in the incident could receive a cash reward of up to $500.

To report information, call the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office’s Crime Stoppers line at 615-444-5245. Callers may remain anonymous.
