Talented songwriters to appear at Faith Lutheran Church

Staff Reports • Updated Sep 29, 2017 at 12:00 PM

The public is invited to Songwriters Night in the Round on Friday at 7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Lebanon to enjoy the music of accomplished artists Richard D. Weil, Marie de la Vega and the Rev. Matt Steinhauer, the musically talented pastor of the congregation.

Weil has played professionally and toured worldwide with several bands, including Silver Strings, Maryland, currently performing in the Washington, D.C. area.

Currently based in Los Angeles, de la Vega has played with folk-rock bands, including the Muteflutes, which recorded her song, “Racing,” on their award-winning album, Hideaway Love.

Both of the artists met Steinhauer in Nashville through “Performing Songwriters Creative Workshops,” a series led by award-winning and influential singer-songwriters.

No admission will be charged, but free-will donations will be accepted, and proceeds will benefit Compassionate Hands, a ministry of local churches to serve homeless people. Free refreshments will be served.

Faith Lutheran Church is at 1655 W. Main St., between Dunkin’ Donuts and Bates Ford.

Call 615-449-5480 or visit faithhere.com to sign up as a songwriter or for more information on the event. Songwriters Night in the Round is featured on the fifth Friday of any month.
