Stormwater Coordinator Liana Dranes put the effort together to spell out ‘Recycle. It matters!’ with plastic bottles in the fence facing Hartmann Drive at the plant. Her children, Seth and Anamaree, and their friend Hope Sloan, helped to install the lettering. Liana Dranes’ husband and plant manager, Billy Dranes, supported the project.
The recycling program in the City of Lebanon remains in the pilot stages after its start in May 2016. The program is currently approved to remain in place until December when the city council will vote once again to keep or dissolve the program.
The service is single-stream and costs $15 per month for pickups every other Monday. All recyclables are placed together in one cart, which is delivered after a customer pays the set-up fee of $25.
Recyclable items include plastic, metal, paper and cardboard. Glass materials are not accepted at this time.
