Tristan McIntosh, of Nashville, advanced through the “Showcase Round” on Thursday after being paired with another Idol – Kellie Pickler.
This week pinned a contestant of this year’s show with an American Idol alum to perform a duet. The duo performed Pickler’s “Best Days of Your Life,” which drew a reaction from another American Idol alum – Paula Abdul.
Abdul served as a judge on the show from 2002-2009. Early Friday morning, Abdul tweeted encouraging words to McIntosh. “Tristan…..you’re magical sweetheart….A bright shining star!” Abdul wrote. McIntosh responded with her own tweet, “Paula thank you so much. This means so much to me. Wow. This is unreal.”
Friday’s message from Abdul weren’t the first encouraging words McIntosh has heard this year from a musical icon.
Following her initial audition, Jennifer Lopez praised McIntosh on her voice, style and personality. “I see, in you, something very, very special,” Lopez said. “I’m really good friends with Alicia Keys and not only do you remind me of her because of how you look, but because of your heart. It’s just beautiful and special.”
Lori Seay, of Lebanon, is a mentor/family friend/personal stylist to McIntosh and her relationship with McIntosh and family was displayed on previous episodes of the show.
However, Seay said McIntosh has remained humble since the audition. “She still does the things she did in the beginning. She’s excited, of course, but she doesn’t have the big head,” Seay said.
McIntosh enjoys reading, knitting and lizards, according to Seay. McIntosh will appear in the Top 14 on Thursday at 7 p.m. on Fox.
