Class looks to spread smiles

Some Friendship Christian School and Winfree Bryant Middle School students, staff and parents received positive messages and gestures Thursday morning in hopes of spreading the love.

Winfree Bryant visitors Thursday morning may have noticed students and school staff lined along school entrances with signs featuring positive messages, such as “Smile. It’s Free.” The gesture was a positive protest aimed at spreading love and positivity throughout the community.

The positive demonstration started at Friendship Christian in Greg Armstrong’s Missions class. The class takes trips to various places, such as Africa, for mission trips.

“We always want to have a local element to that,” said Armstrong, who said the class began the school year helping out at Brooks House.

“We just look for ways to make the community a better place,” he said.

He said the class decided to have the positive protest with the mission of “spreading smiles one sign at a time.”

Armstrong said Winfree Bryant principal Becky Kegley got word about the demonstration and enlisted the school to participate.

Armstrong said the class is willing to do the demonstration for any school, business or group that reaches out to the class.

“It’s a way to spread smiles across the community and spread positivity,” Armstrong said.
