Lebanon graduates awarded Cracker Barrel Foundation scholarships

The Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Foundation announced three Lebanon graduates were each awarded a $2,500 academic college scholarship for the 2016-2017 school year as part of its annual employee scholarship program.

Brianna Garvin is studying education at Lee University in Cleveland. Her mother, TaJuana Garvin, is a quality assurance retail food safety manager at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.

Kelsey Hunt is studying communications at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. Her mother, Teresa Hunt, is a retail merchandise sign and graphics specialist at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.

Tyler Oakley is studying nursing at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville. His father, Steven Oakley, is a manager of computer operations at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.

The Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Foundation is a nonprofit corporation created by Cracker Barrel Old Country Store in 1993. The foundation has awarded millions of dollars in grants to support numerous nonprofits and charitable programs. It also supports the annual employee scholarship program, which recognizes and rewards the accomplishments of Cracker Barrel employees and their children who excel in their studies and serve their communities. Since 1996, the program has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to more than 800 students.

Scholarship recipients are selected annually from submissions received from every restaurant region across the country as well as Cracker Barrel’s Home Office and Distribution Center in Lebanon.

“Cracker Barrel’s success comes from our employees,” said Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Foundation president Terry Deas. “If they succeed, we succeed. Our goal is for every employee and their children to have opportunities to excel on the job and in life, while achieving their personal goals. Brianna, Kelsey and Tyler are commendable individuals, and I could not be more proud to have them as part of the Cracker Barrel family. We wish them the best of luck this school year.”

The Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Foundation Scholarship Program accepts applications annually from Cracker Barrel employees and their children. All submissions are evaluated in an objective manner based on factors such as high school or college grades, standardized test results, extracurricular activities and community service.
