Thursday night’s Art Show opening at The Mill featured artwork and musical numbers from Coles Ferry Elementary School students.
The event, which lasted from 6 until 8 p.m., brought in hordes of parents, students and teachers to take in all Coles Ferry Elementary has to offer in the world of music and art.
A large crowd gathered with cameras in the commons of The Mill as Debra Martin’s music students played their recorders to multiple songs for their parents and classmates.
The Artist Alley gallery room of the venue featured countless works of art from students in Coles Ferry art teacher Becky Burroughs’ class. The several hundred pieces of art ranged from drawings, paper sculptures, Chinese masks, watercolors, dragons, lanterns and sunflowers, among others. The artwork is set to be on display in Artist Alley at The Mill through Mar. 20.
Students of every grade, first through fifth, were represented in the gallery showing. Much of the artwork depicted what students had learned from artists like Vincent van Gogh or Bruce Munro, or through studying topics like Chinese culture.
Additionally, five or six student and teacherdesigned and painted chairs were available for a charitable donation through silent auction.
Snacks were served as parents and students mixed and mingled between taking in the music in the main room and viewing art in Artist Alley.
The next Art Show at The Mill is set for Mar. 27.
