Giving Tuesday is a global giving movement that has been driven by individuals, families, organizations, businesses and communities throughout the world. It takes place on Nov. 29.
Since it was founded in 2012, millions of people have come together on Giving Tuesday to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live.
On Giving Tuesday, supporters will have a choice of projects to support at New Leash on Life. The organization will accept donations online, at the adoption center or through the mail for a cattery.
The organization also hopes to receive donations to support an initiative to “fix” free-roaming cats in the community.
Finally, the organization looks to provide new beds and enrichment toys for some of the dogs that are considered “long-timers” and could use some comforts to make their stay better.
After two days of getting deals — Black Friday and Cyber Monday — Giving Tuesday is a day for giving back. In 2015, nonprofits raised more than $117 million online on Giving Tuesday. More was generated offline and through donations of time and other resources. People participated in Giving Tuesday activities in 71 countries last year.
New Leash on Life is excited to be part of this day of giving. As a nonprofit, the organization depends on donations for support to make extra projects possible. Giving Tuesday is a way to share needs and comforts for the animals in the organization’s care.
“The community shows such love for the animals and their support makes all the difference,” Angela Chapman, director of New Leash on Life, said. “One animal at a time, lives are being changed.”
