Vulcan Materials Co. recently presented United Way of Wilson County a corporate gift for $500 for this year’s community campaign.

“The funds come in the middle of the newest local United Way campaign to raise funds for our local, Wilson County programs,” said United Way assistant director of development and finance Jennifer Pitt.

Vulcan Materials Co. sales representative Troy Haydel presented the check to United Way and said one of Vulcan Material’s commitments, in operating as a good corporate citizen, is they will support and take an active part in public and charitable projects.

“This is great example of how local companies support this county’s residents,” said Pitt. “We’re very appreciative of Vulcan for assisting United Way corporately; it shows a lot of compassion. They also donated several truckloads of crushed stone for a walking trail project which benefitted one of our partner programs,” Pitt said explaining that the end result is that “their generosity helped us reach out to thousands of local people in need of vital services.”
