Porter poured in 18 points from the backcourt while Dixon added 11 from closer in as the Lady Aviators improved to 12-1.
The Lady Avs trailed 10-9 following the first quarter before an 18-4 second slingshoted them in front 27-14 by halftime. It was 39-18 through three periods.
Samaya Rhodes scored six for Winfree Bryant while Avery Harris had four and Kendall Arnold and Natalie Danko two each.
Kiki Jervis led the Lady Bears with seven points while Kearstyn Seay scored four, Anna Rigs three and Peyton Wallace, Ashlyn Riggs, Kaitlyn Bertram and Madison Pertuset two apiece.
Tigerettes top WJB, take 18th triumph
WATERTOWN — Watertown’s girls had no trouble with Walter J. Baird in a 49-17 win Thursday night.
The Tigerettes led 14-2 following the first quarter and 31-5 at halftime as they enter the Christmas break 18-2.
Brittni Allison scored 12 points and Emma Christensen and Saranda Woodson 10 as each hit a pair of three-pointers for the Tigerettes. Morgan Bain finished with five points, Daejah Maklary four and Natalie Fountain, Madi Reeder, Grace Riddle and Blake Griffin two apiece.
Vanessa Szych scored eight points, Terri Reynolds seven and Asia Barr two for Baird.
Watertown will face Rickman in the Upperman Christmas Tournament on Dec. 28 in Baxter.
Lady Avs open Oakland tournament with triumph
MURFREESBORO — Winfree Bryant’s girls emerged with a back-and-forth 40-35 win over Rockvale on Wednesday night to open the Oakland Middle School Christmas Tournament.
The Lady Aviators rallied from a 12-7 first-quarter deficit to grab a 21-20 halftime edge. Rockvale led 29-27 going into the fourth before Winfree Bryant rallied again to improve to 11-1.
Addie Grace Porter poured in 24 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the Lady Aviators. Landry Dixon scored six points, Natalie Danko three, Kendall Arnold two and Samaya Rhodes a free throw.
After a home game against Mt. Juliet on Thursday, Winfree Bryant will return to Oakland today for a 2:30 p.m. game against either the Lady Bears or Stewarts Creek.
Blackman boys surge past Baird in fourth
MURFREESBORO — Blackman’s boys took charge in the fourth quarter Wednesday afternoon to open the Oakland Christmas Tournament with a 51-44 win over Walter J. Baird.
The Blue Devils led 15-11 following the first quarter, 25-23 at halftime and 35-34 going into the fourth before Blackman dominated the final six minutes 17-9.
Javon Nelson knocked down 29 points and took down 10 rebounds for Blackman while Todd Lark tossed in two three-pointers on his way to 10.
Toney Conn collected five rebounds and three steals as he and Jamar Kynard each scored 11 points for Baird while Luka Saller supplied nine, Isaac Johnson eight, Ty Bailey a three and Ethan Coleman two.
