Blue Devils open with blowout wins in East Tennessee

GATLINBURG — Freshman Brady Chappell pitched a five-inning-one-hitter Friday to lead Lebanon to a 10-0 shutout of Anderson County at Gatlinburg-Pittman.

Lebanon finished with eight hits while the Blue Devils took advantage of five errors. Nick Sanders drove in four runs on three hits while Dalton Squires added two RBI and Eli McDearman a couple of hits.

The Blue Devils scored twice in the first inning and blew the game open with six in the second as they improved to 2-0.

Lebanon will wrap up its East Tennessee trip Saturday with two games - against Oak Ridge at Northview Academy in Kodak and against Grace Christian in Seymour.

PIGEON FORGE — Lebanon opened its season Thursday with an 11-1 hammering of Karns.

After spotting the Beavers a run in the top of the first inning, the Blue Devils took the lead with two in the bottom half, extended it with three in the third and blew the game open with six in the fifth to end it.

Tristan Warden pitched the full five innings for the win, scattering seven hits while striking out four.

Nick Sanders drove in three runs while Clayton Thorne and Felipe Juarez each had two RBI. Thorne had two of Lebanon’s nine hits.
